Expo Artworld : 11/9 > 22/9/2013
From Wednesday 11 September till Sunday 22 September included, some 50 Brussels artists will exhibit in the “Cellars” in Anderlecht. It promises to become a fascinating journey during which visitors will be able to discover the world of well-known and less well-known artists. The initiative and organization of this event are the responsibility of Sanae Jamaï and Ilyas Essadek. Let’s meet.
EXPO ARTWORLD : Worlds in movement source of inspiration for Brussels artists
Sanae is 25, grew up in the Brussels Place Shuman area and took a communications management degree. After her studies, her passion for engaged theatrical arts drove her into the cultural sector. Ilyas is 27, was born and grew up in Brussels, where he studied international trade and journalism. His social engagement brought him into the world of development cooperation, which gave him the opportunity to travel to Ecuador, Israel, China, … But he loves coming back to his Brussels home base time and time again, bringing with him lots of snapshots from the countries he visited.
Sanae and Ilyas met quite unexpectedly in a coffee shop, started a conversation and despite their different backgrounds they got along quite well. The Brussels melting-pot, a cultural and artistic patchwork with a diversity of nationalities and social variety, seemed to attract both of them, finally resulting in the Expo Artworld project.

With lots of passion and motivation Sanae and Ilyas started preparing the project. On their search for artists and partners, they visited academies, art galeries and non profit organizations, but the internet too proved to be a source of valuable information. Through Cultureghem vzw-asbl, they found the way to the Cellars. Networks got created, resulting in synergies between a wide variety of Brussels artists and partners, art and travelling being common denominators. And that’s exactly Sanae and Ilyas’ exhibition’s objective: show how Brussels plastic artists found inspiration in the pictures of Ilyas, so to give their view on worlds in movement, just like all other Brussels actors constantly are in evolution or permanently stay on the move. It keeps the dynamics alive and vivid, resulting in an intriguing, interesting mix of artistic work
from both well-known artists as from young upcoming talent.
